Age of Empires: Castle Siege for Android now available worldwide

Microsoft has finally rolled out its massively multiplayer online, or MMO, tower defense game Age of Empires: Castle Siege for Android devices. The game was originally launched in 2014 for the Windows Phone platform. Developed by Smoking Gun Interactive and released by Microsoft Corporation, the game is easy to learn, but hard to master allowing the beloved franchise to be accessible to mobile players.

The Age of Empires: Castle Siege may actually look like an old-school AoE game, but do not be fooled, this is a cash grab from Microsoft if there ever was one. It seems that their own mobile platform got the game way back in 2014, three years later and it looks like us Android users can revel in this abomination as well.

The main premise of Age of Empires: Castle Siege as the name suggests is to defend and build an empire, guiding the civilization through the medieval era. A gamer has the option of choosing the civilization they fancy from Kievan Rus, Britons, and Teutons. In order to build your civilization, you will need resources:  Food, Gold and eventually Stone.  Each of these are gained through farms, mills and quarries that you build at various levels in the Age of Empires Castle Siege game. One can earn crowns in the game by attacking an opponent's castle and looting their resources, and protect it against the enemy.

Some well-known heroes from history will also be seen in Age of Empires: Castle Siege, including Saladin, Richard the Lionheart, as well as Joan of Arc, and you can even recruit them to your side.

What else is there to really say?

While not everything about Age of Empires: Castle Siege is a complete waste, there is something that is actually interesting. You can sign into the game with your Xbox Live account. This allows it to store you save online, just in case you play this game so much that you have it on Android, iOS and Windows. A cool feature indeed that is wasted on a lame product.

Age Of Empires: Castle Siege is currently available for free download in the Google Play Store. It was last updated on April 4. Although the game is free, gamers will need to shell out money for the in-app purchases.
