After lots of rumors and a few leaks, Ubisoft has confirmed a new Assassin's Creed will be out during the current fiscal year, which runs through March 31, 2018. The next Assassin's Creed game does not have a release date. The latest report from Eurogamer suggests that the game is called Assassin's Creed: Origins and that it will indeed be out this year. The game will reportedly arrive for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
This puts the game out in the French publisher’s current financial year, which kicked off on April 1, 2017. The new Assassin’s Creed game will be joined by a host of other triple-A titles from the company, including Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, and South Park: The Fractured But Whole. The news was shared as part of Ubisoft's earnings report today. The company subsequently shared a GIF on Twitter with the game's logo and the words "a new era begins"--"We're taking [2016] to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we're delivering on the promise of Assassin's Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone's playground."Ubisoft is keeping quiet on any details right now, although we’ll no doubt hear more at E3 next month.
We’ve rounded up all the rumours and news about the game’s release date, title, setting, and platforms right here - and it’ll be the first place you find any screenshots and trailers when they’re released - probably at E3 2017.
The game is reportedly due on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 'later this year', with no Switch version planned. Naturally, we have to take all of this with a pinch of salt for now - but with E3 just around the corner, we surely don't have long to wait to find out for sure.
