Pokémon GO': a new gym update and new changes revealed

Pokemon Go developer Niantic revealed on Tuesday evening that it was in the process of updating the game. Android users can download version 0.63.1, while Apple iOS owners can update to version 1.33.1, with news of more changes, promo codes, #Gym raids, and measures to prevent hacks like spoofing.

But as usual, it's what's hidden within the code that's of most interest to fans. Data miners have discovered some exciting new information about Raids, as well as potential changes to make Gyms more competitive. First and foremost, the release notes for the update reveal that the update brings Brazilian Portuguese language support and will allow players to tap on medals to show their progress to the next tier.

According to Pokemon Go Hub, Gym Raids are coming soon, although it's not clear how they'll work.
During the last few days, data regarding the latest updates has been revealed, however, new rumors and surprising leaks within the game code are still coming to light. Some users have found interesting updates related to promotional codes, gym retraction measures, and new anti-hacking options set to be launched in the coming days. One of these new updates is related to gym raids, which were mentioned recently as part of new updates from Niantic. It looks like Niantic is working on a notification system to alert players about nearby Raids, as well as a map overlay.

Here are the three lines of code that appear to be related to the upcoming gym raids:
  • ACTIVITY_DEFEAT_RAID_POKEMON
  • ACTIVITY_FEED_BERRY
  • ACTIVITY_SEARCH_GYM

While Pokemon Go is free to download, in-app coin packs can be purchased for cash. Fans in the aforementioned regions can now expect to pay roughly 10% more on Coin Packs. It is worth mentioning that new user reports continue to arrive with interesting revelations about new updates coming this summer as well.
