Donald Trump is a different category. His spontaneity and seeming irrelevance of his lies have no precedent.
In the afternoon in Ohio, Trump said he sometimes tweets while in bed, he tweet in early morning: “This story is not about Mr. Khan, who is all over the place doing interviews, but rather RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM and the U.S. Get smart!”
In February 7-2017 he lied that the murder rate was the highest in 45 years.
But the truth is : Based on FBI statistics, the murder rate was 5.0 homicides per 100,000 people in 2015, down from a peak in 1980 of 10.2 per 100,000 people.
In January 27-2017 he lied about being in Scotland the day before the “Brexit” vote and predicted the EU referendum would pass. In reality, Trump arrived in Scotland the day after the EU referendum, June 24, 2016, when the result was already clear.
In January 20-2017 he said: “I looked at the rain, which just never came. We finished the speech, went inside, it poured.. it’s like God was looking down on us.”
But in fact: The rain began right at the beginning of Trump’s speech. During the inauguration itself, the Rev. Franklin Graham told Trump, “Mr. President, in the Bible, rain is a sign of God’s blessing. And it started to rain, Mr. President, when you came to the platform.”
