Eighty-nine-year-old Parkash Singh Badal's dream of becoming the chief minister of Punjab thrice in a row and the sixth time overall will remain unfulfilled. Parkash Singh Badal was born on December 8, 1927, and graduated from the Christian College, Lahore. He entered politics by joining the SAD in 1947 and was elected sarpanch of his village panchayat and later chairman of the block samiti.
The SAD was also eyeing to become the first party to come back to power for the third successive time after the division of Punjab in 1966.
On his promise of revival of industries, he said the industrial policy of the state would be liberalized to check the flight of industries and make Punjab an attractive investment destination.
He further said the SAD would continue fighting on the SYL canal issue. But seems like people on Twitter have already decided on the Badals' exit from the state of Punjab.
“I am grateful to the people of Punjab for giving me an opportunity to serve them. I am fully satisfied with all the things I was able to do. I will seek forgiveness from people for any mistakes,” Badal said.
"Badals are giving farewell to Badals," said one Twitter user. "The rain is heavy , it's time for Badals to go, tomorrow jhadoo will clean all the mess that the rain created," said another.
